Miyazawa Kazufumi - Shinkanucha
This is the song my university’s taiko group used for their eisa performance (we followed LA Shisa’s choreography) in our spring concert back in March 2012
There’s something that just really strikes me in the heart about this song - I felt it when I danced to it, and I still feel it when I listen to it. Whether it’s the enthusiastic cries throughout, the soaring strings in the bridge, or the jovial, rejoicing chorus, I feel a strong connection to this song. Like it’s setting me free somehow. Like I’m going on this journey yet coming home at the same time.
I couldn’t find the lyrics, but I did find out that “Shinkanucha” means “fellowship” - this song, especially performing to it, to me is all about forming that bond with not only your fellow performers but also with the audience. Performing arts isn’t about just showing your craft, but about communicating with the people you are performing for.
I’ve been listening to this song several times for the past few days… and it’s making me really regret skipping out on taiko invitationals this year.
At least I have Fanime Con that weekend as a consolation prize.

7. Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight?
Oh god no. I think the max I have ever done was almost 40? Def more than 37 but not quite beyond the 40s yet. And I was hallucinating hearing Justin Bieber songs in my head. ARGH. :(
8. Do you cry easily?
I would say no, but I do tend to be on the verge of tears a lot when I’m frustrated and stressed out. They just don’t come out that often.
9. What should you be doing right now?
CLEANING MY APT. BUT I AM NOT. HURRRRRRR.

CLASS TOMORROW :( and my time of the month is right around the corner in a few days. fuck.

41. What is your all-time favourite romance movie?
Ah god, this is difficult. I feel like I love most cheesy chick flicks… I don’t really like all out romance movies, but comedies with a romance element. I just rewatched Easy A, so I suppose that is my current favorite. Penn Badgley and Emma Stone are so adorable together :)

9. What should you be doing right now?
Cleaning my apartment, instead of watching Takarazuka with Aishlin :P
10. Are you a heavy sleeper?
Oh god. Depends. I’m not really a heavy sleeper unless I’m super tired/just pulled an all nighter, just really hard to get out of bed. Like I’ll be mostly awake but unwilling to climb out of the comfy mess of blankets lol
14. What makes you laugh no matter what?
Hmmm a well timed dramatic musical note to someone falling down/getting something thrown at them/running into a pole/you get the picture. There’s just something that tickles me so much about it…
24. What ARE you looking forward to?
In the direct future… Fanime. AX. I’m kinda looking forward to seeing a certain prof in class this Thursday, but that’s not going to last because that class is going to start kicking my ass very soon. Further on… WEIYUN COMING OVERRRRR I’M STILL SO EXCITEDDD

Clementine soda. And I guess the bottle since part of it has to be in my mouth for me to drink it…?
35. If you could move somewhere else, would you?
I was considering NorCal at some point. Maybe even Japan for a few years… but I must settle down in California eventually… I’m a Cali child through and through.

Soniania (Wade calls me that), Soniar (Joe sometimes calls me that), and rarely… Sonyan (nyan to go with cats! also Wade’s invention)
42. Do you believe that everyone has a soul-mate?
Still not sure about this. I do to some extent, but I also do not believe everyone is destined to find theirs in one lifetime… I guess that would mean I somewhat believe in reincarnation? Or at least I like entertaining the idea of it…
46. How many kids do you want to have?
Eventually, 2. I was raised with a sibling so I think it would be fun. I used to want 3, but I think paying 2 college tuitions is more than enough.
47. Have you ever found it hard to tell someone you like them?
I am absolutely awful at this. Have been since middle school. It’s the one area where my awesome confidence evaporates. I do the stupid dancing around it and play the dropping-hints-that-are-kinda-subtle-but-not-really-until-they-get-it game.
